Grid-Forming vs Grid-Following

PCS modes for grid-tied and islanded C&I sites.

Grid-following PCS injects current into an existing grid voltage. Grid-forming PCS can establish voltage and frequency — required for islanding, black start, and many microgrid use cases.

Platform PCS design targets both modes, plus export limiting, Volt/VAR, frequency response, and black start as part of the grid interface. Confirm site code requirements with the DNSP or utility.
