Why it matters

You cannot optimize what you do not measure

Most C&I sites have one utility meter at the point of common coupling. Everything behind the meter — solar generation, battery state of charge, charger utilization, motor load — stays invisible. When a demand charge spikes, no one knows which load caused it. When export limits bind, curtailment is the only lever. When a VPP aggregator asks for flexible load, the honest answer is often “we don’t know what’s available.”
