IEEE 2030.5 Explained

Smart energy profile for DER, BTM, demand response, and VPP — native, not bridged.

IEEE 2030.5 is the smart energy profile utilities use to manage distributed energy. Native implementation supports certificate-based security and direct DERMS integration; bridge-only stacks add latency and operational risk.

Joule Junction Metering is designed as IEEE 2030.5-native — not a Modbus-to-2030.5 gateway as the primary path. CSIP-AUS is the Australian profile for DNSP compliance on top of 2030.5.

Pair metering with OCPP 2.0.1/2.1 for charging sessions and ISO 15118-20 for V2X control. Cybersecurity alignment targets IEC 62443 practices (secure comms, certificates, remote updates, identity).
