Digital Power

For a century, electrical infrastructure was largely passive. Distributed energy needs active power electronics and a software layer that can reconfigure the site without rewiring every panel.

The shift

From passive conductors to active control

Transformers, cables, and switchgear conducted power. They did not shape it in real time. Solid-state conversion, digital protection, and grid-forming capable PCS turn the electrical plant into an addressable system — designed to grid-form, island, export-limit, and respond to site and utility signals through a shared protocol stack.

Digital power, in the Joule Junction frame, means every major device on the DC BUS is part of one architecture: physical backbone, measurement, and energy management.

Physical layer

DC BUS

The physical DC backbone. SST, BusWay, PCS, protection, and grid interface in one architecture — current flagship 800 V DC.

  • Solid State Transformer (SST)
  • DC BusWay
  • Power Conversion System (PCS)
  • Protection, controls
  • DC arc protection — native DC arc detection, digital protection relays

Application layer

Energy Management

Software that optimizes. The layer customers evaluate first.

  • Forecasting — solar generation, load, price signals
  • Tariff optimisation — time-of-use, demand charges
  • Battery optimisation — charge/discharge scheduling
  • Solar optimisation — self-consumption vs export
  • EV scheduling — fleet charge management
  • Load shifting — peak shaving, demand response
  • Carbon reporting — scope 1/2 tracking, compliance
  • AI optimisation — continuous dispatch improvement
  • Multi-site management — portfolio-level visibility
  • VPP participation — DER aggregation, market bidding
  • ISO 15118-20 V2X control — V2G, V2H, V2L, V2B
